2020, what a year right? Each year everyone on the planet faces new challenges and new struggles. This year however, we have all faced one big struggle, the dreaded C word…..COVID!!! This illness has swept the world and changed everyone’s lives in some way or another. For my family, it made our dreams of homesteading and leading a more self-sustainable life an absolute necessity. So we dug in and got started. This year we have accomplished a lot and are still working hard every single day. Our homeschooling looks a lot different since we rarely leave the house, our homestead is growing, our freezers and pantry are stocked with good wholesome food from our garden, and we’ve done the best we can as far as stockpiling meat. Eventually we will be supplying our own meat so we’ll be relying even less on the store.
All of this has led me to learning a lot about myself and the world around me. I see so much negativity in the world and on social media. This really disturbs me and makes me wonder what kind of world I’m bring my son up in. Because of it all, Mike and I have made the decision to pull even further away from “normal” society and create our own way of living. Honestly, I see more and more people going this way because they are tired of the craziness in the world as well. People in general are have a strong belief that we are supposed to send our kids to school, socialize, rely on each other, and basically be dependent on what’s out in the world. Sadly this is what leaders conditioned everyone to be like when the introduction of school happened. After all, where would the leaders be without their sheep following them?
So here we are, the last day of September. 2020 is coming to an end in a few months and my family is starting over. We are taking what we’ve learned from this year and moving on with our unique lives! Building our homestead, working our at home business that we have built from scratch, homeschooling our son, and loving our lives!
